The Magical Power of the Moon - Full & New Moon Rituals

The Magic Moon

The moon has always exerted a mystical fascination on us humans with its light. The moon was formed about 4.5 billion years ago. This year we experience the full moon twice in August. On August 1 at 8:31 p.m. and on August 31 at 3:54 a.m. On both August full moons, only about 357,000 km separate us. This event is rare.

The belief in the moon, especially the full moon, is widespread among primitive peoples. Full moon rituals are also very common in industrialized nations. Thus, primitive peoples believed that the moon had to be of the right size and position in order to have the power to prevent minor catastrophes. That is why the full moon is so fascinating in its power and beauty. For example, hairdressing appointments on a full moon should make hair grow faster and the full moon should also protect against gray hair. Heating up for the first time when there is a full moon protects against a damp and cold apartment in winter.

We would like to introduce you to some rituals at full moon:

What should you do on a full moon?

  • Sowing carrot seeds, but also fertilization and harvesting
  • To clean the apartment
  • Have a hair appointment
  • heat for the first time before winter
  • Dance around a fire in the moonlight
  • to make the laundry
  • make moon water
  • fumigation

What does the full moon stand for?

The full moon stands for emotions, but also for the subconscious. The full moon stands for intuition and the emotional world. You should use the power of the full moon to work with your inner being. The full moon is ideal for illuminating the dark side. The full moon brings to light negative thoughts, behaviors and habits. At the full moon, free yourself from everything that doesn't get you anywhere, such as fear, envy, disappointments and feelings of guilt.

The wisdom of the magical effects of the full moon has not been proven. However, it has been proven that the moon influences the tides. The moon rises every 24.8 hours. During this time, both the earth and the moon oscillate around a center of rotation. Therefore there are 2 tides and not just one. When both forces add up, for example at the new moon, the sun and moon are on the same side. Spring tides occur near the coast. The moon is also known as the zeitgeber of the seas. He governs the tides and the life of creatures in the coastal and near-coastal areas.

Why does the full moon have such a strong magic on us humans?

What is certain is that the retina of the human eye consists of photoreceptor cells, which do not all react in the same way to brightness and colors. 125 million rods see no colors, but are very sensitive to light. 7 million cones see color but cannot work in low light. This is the case, for example, on a full moon night. The Stächs compensate with their sensitivity to light. Out of habit, the brain now thinks that a meadow lit by the full moon is green. Physiologically, however, the human eye can only perceive shades of grey. Therefore, the light of the full moon looks mystical and unusual. Does this light also explain why people sleep worse than usual when the moon is full? This fact cannot be clearly clarified scientifically at the present time. Many people sleep poorly on a full moon night.

The phenomenon of sensitivity to the weather, for example when there is a full moon, has been scientifically proven. The full moon is said to be related to the weather. After the full moon, but also after the new moon, it rains a lot. At half moon it rains very little. Due to the fluctuations in air pressure, this explains people's sensitivity to the weather. When the weather changes, the full moon causes circulatory problems and mental disorders.

Because the full moon has had a very special effect on us humans since time immemorial with its very special magic, its mystical light and the many stories that have arisen over time. Since the full moon and many of its effects have not been proven beyond doubt to this day, rituals have developed over generations.

Today we want to introduce you to some full moon rituals.

1.Create your moon water.

Why should you make moon water?

The full moon has a strong power on the water. This ritual should help you to deepen your insights and your visions. With this ritual you can let go of the old at full moon and manifest deep heart desires. Let go, dive deep and open yourself to new wonders...

Feel free with this ritual and the power of the full moon. You can enjoy your moon water, wet yourself, but also consecrate objects or rooms with it.

What do you need for this ritual?

A water carafe with a lid , water from a spring if possible, a mirror,

How are you?

You should make your moon water on the night of the full moon. Make sure that the full moon is still big and not waning again. Take your water carafe with a lid , fill the water carafe with a lid very carefully, you can also say a mantra here:

- I'm ready to forgive

- I thank you

-I love me/you

-I forgive myself/you

-I'm sorry

Place the water carafe with the water in nature. With the mirror you catch the magical light of the full moon and direct it into the water carafe with a lid. Let the water sit in the water carafe with a lid for a while. Then you can enjoy the energy of your moon water.

2. Collect herbs

Leaves, fruits and flowers have special life juices in the morning before the full moon. If you want to eat or dry these herbs and fruits, use the midday hour before the full moon.

Light a candle and place herbs in the sieve of your incense burner or on your incense plate. Sage is particularly suitable for this ritual, the helping spirits of the full moon love its scent.

Take a sheet of paper and formulate your wish positively:

-I am healthy-

Draw a protective circle for this ritual to exclude negative elements. Ask the full moon for help. Burn the note in the fire. Thank the full moon in this ritual and dissolve the circle of protection.

4. Planting in the light of the full moon

The full moon carries power for the growth of plants. The tides here are a very nice example of the power of the full moon. Medicinal herbs planted just before the full moon have a special power. Use this ritual and the full moon and plant a medicinal herb of your choice. It doesn't matter whether it's in a pot for the balcony, the windowsill or the garden.

5. Purify ritual objects and healing stone bracelets

On the night of the full moon you can use this ritual to charge, bless or consecrate your magical utensils, such as your healing stone bracelet, but also other objects for rituals with the power of the full moon. During this ritual, unload your healing stone bracelet under running water. Then you put your healing stone bracelet in the light of the full moon or in your moon water. What does the new moon stand for?

Not only does the moon stabilize the earth's axis, the moon influences the tides, our sleep and the menstrual cycle . The word moon and month are similar for a reason, the moon is called that because it was used to measure the months. The counterpart to the full moon mentioned above is the phase in which you cannot see the moon in the starry sky: the new moon. When the moon is between the earth and the sun, you only see the night side of the new moon from the earth. Approximately 35 hours later, the extreme right edge is illuminated again by direct sunlight. This phase of the moon is the new light. The phase before is called the new moon because the moon appears to be -renewing- itself in it. As a new moon is the beginning of a new moon phase and therefore stands for a new beginning in astrology. The new moon not only changes the tides, but brings change and fresh air into your life. You can feel the energies of the new moon for about 6 days. 3 days before and 3 days after the new moon. However, the new moon is only an instant, when the moon is exactly between the sun and the earth and is therefore in line with the sun. Use the new moon for your reflection. Go into yourself and provide yourself with new energy of the new moon. Now is the ideal time to set your goals and send wishes to the universe. Visualize and manifest with the help of the new moon wish. Discover our blog post on the subject of new moon wishes - this is how it works - aalenaa

Attention: Of course it depends on which sign of the zodiac the new moon is in. New moon is not the same as new moon. Depending on how the other planets are, there are other energies, forces and areas of life that can affect and favor the new moon. Find out where the new moon is right now. What element is the new moon in right now?
