What is a mandala?

A geometric pattern, the mandala, is engraved on the surface of the soapstone plate. A mandala is used as a spiritual symbol in many cultures. The mandala consists of a central point surrounded by symmetrical shapes. Mandalas are often used as a meditation aid because they help you to find balance and give you a feeling of relaxation and serenity. There is a hole in the middle of the plate, which is used to hold your incense stick, while the plate, thanks to its fireproof property, catches the falling ash/embers.
