Singing bowl application: This is how it works!
Singing bowls are Tibetan instruments that can be used for meditation, relaxation and healing purposes. The singing bowl is assigned to the instrument of the bell. She is originally from Tibet and the neighboring Asian countries of Nepal, Bhutan and India. Tibetans have been using singing bowls for thousands of years. Singing bowls have always been considered sacred, and as such their existence was mostly kept secret until the Chinese invasion of Tibet in the 1950s. After that time, knowledge of singing bowls has slowly spread, and their use has become more common in other cultures around the world.
Traditionally, singing bowls are made from a mixture of seven metals. Today, most singing bowls on the market are made of just three or five metals. These bowls create tones and sounds that allow you to relax deeply and create harmony between your body and soul.
Proper preparation
Tibetan singing bowls have been around for thousands of years. That's why there are different ways to use them. This defines three main ways in which you can use tones to create your own acoustic vibration.
The method for beginners
In this beginner's singing bowl guide, you can follow the step-by-step method of tapping a Tibetan singing bowl. It is also known as "warming up" the bell.
- Take your Tibetan singing bowl in your left palm.
- Take the clapper in your right palm.
- Hold the clapper in front of you.
- Now tap the side of the singing bowl lightly with the mallet.
- Repeat this rhythmically.
standard method
Once your singing bowl has "tuned in" (warmed up), you can begin to create healing sounds. The application is very easy. Just follow the steps below!
- Place your Tibetan singing bowls on a table or fabric cushion.
- Take the clapper in your right hand.
- Now start by guiding the beater over the edge of the singing bowl in a clockwise direction.
- Take off the clapper and hear the singing bowl sing by itself.
- When the singing stops, rub the clapper against the edges of the bowl again.
- Proceed with this as you would with a large bowl of soup, stirring it.
Advanced method
For experienced Tibetan singing bowl users.
- For the advanced method, you should already be working with the beginner and standard methods. The so-called "wah-wah method" gives you an idea of the vibrating sounds of a singing bowl.
- Make the bowl sing by rubbing the rim of the bowl with the mallet while holding it in your left palm.
- Raise the singing bowl to your mouth so that the vibrating air of the bowl is pointing towards your mouth.
- Now open your mouth and recite a meditative "wah." Close your mouth and say another "wah" in your mind.
You will change the sound and also feel the healing, meditative vibrations in your mouth once you master advanced Tibetan bowl chanting.
Do not forget...
For a singing bowl to work properly, you should approach it in the right mood. Don't try to get them to sing half-heartedly or with negative energy. It only works if you are willing to embark on a sound journey yourself! Practice, take a deep breath, smile and begin the singing bowl song.
