Yoga during and after pregnancy

Pregnancy is a very special time in a woman's life. Your body changes, and new or strange feelings are associated with it, which can manifest themselves in the form of inner restlessness.

It's about strengthening inner peace and self-confidence and intensifying the power of your body. Bodywork targets specific muscle groups, such as the pelvic floor area, making your body more flexible and supple.

I use breathing techniques to support you in noticing and letting go of tension, thereby helping to regenerate your body.

Should I practice yoga during pregnancy?

... these and similar questions often arise when the pregnancy has occurred and the midwife or gynecologist recommends practicing yoga.

In my experience, it is often the case that women come into contact with yoga and the asanas for the first time during pregnancy.

Of course, I would not recommend the craziest yoga styles during pregnancy, but rather those that are carefully and consciously tailored to your body, that respond to the worries, fears and wishes of the "carrying person" :-)!

If you decide to try yoga, then you should be clear about your wishes, look around carefully and find out what actually suits you and also which teacher.

Is yoga good for me and my baby during pregnancy?

In my yoga classes, I treat pregnant women like "blossoming flowers" ... in a figurative sense, we look together at what you need, what changes your body is going through and how we can strengthen your muscles in the second trimester of pregnancy with appropriate and selected body movements (asana) - to let you blossom ... for what lies ahead.

In my practice, the first trimester of pregnancy remains untouched. Here, what belongs together should come together in the body and have the space to develop.

In the second third, the focus is on strength and strengthening for the birth of the child and the time afterwards.

In the 3rd third I work subtle with the breath.

Because you will need a lot of breath during the birth and so the breathing practice will definitely benefit you.

Many of my students, with whom I practice yoga during pregnancy, have reflected this back to me. I think that's wonderful, because the many different ways of breathing can also be used in everyday life, e.g. if a colleague is annoying, the home office is getting too much, if sleep is disturbed or you allow yourself a few breaths to get in touch with yourself.

A lot more changes happen in the 8 months of pregnancy than in normal life. Here it is particularly important to take care of yourself carefully and confidently.

What if something happens to us while doing yoga during pregnancy?

Every pregnancy is its own mindfulness adventure. The circumstances change from day to day, your body, the weight, the child grows and thrives. What could be nicer than keeping an eye on it every day and following and enjoying this development openly and curiously? Feeling the moment without having the immediate idea that it should actually be different, that is lived mindfulness!

Yoga during pregnancy is mindfulness training. This mindfulness training is based on Jon Kabat-Zinn's classic MBSR course. However, in addition to the classic content of the MBSR course, it also includes pregnancy and becoming a parent. MBSR is "Mindfulness through Stress Management" in a very conscious way and always in the present moment . mindfulness to experience in the sense of consciousness and awareness, related to one's own actions and feelings, is crucial.

Being in the present moment and becoming aware of the body, breath, hearing, feelings, thoughts, bodily sensations is the practice of MBSR .

At this point I would like to give you a PRACTICAL TIP, read on and start practicing ... or better yet, let them read it to you ...

Have you become curious about yoga during pregnancy, mindfulness, meditation or MBSR (Mindfulness-Based-Stress-Reduction abbreviated as MBSR)?
